The DVS is MBIE’s official six-monthly survey of domestic travel by New Zealand residents aged 15 and over. It is an online panel survey run by Verian (formerly Kantar Public) on behalf of MBIE and Stats NZ.
Unlike the quarterly IVS, the DVS asks about both trips taken in the previous six months and trips planned for the next six months. Each wave is weighted to represent the adult New Zealand population.
Overnight trips and day trips are measured separately. Regional breakdowns are by the region where the traveller lives, not where they travelled.
